Dear WMS Families,
As we work together to support your child’s growth and learning, your voice is one of our most valuable resources. We are deeply committed to creating a vibrant, safe, and enriching environment for our students, and we rely on your unique insights and feedback to help us continuously improve the middle school experience.
Please take a few moments to share your thoughts through this survey. We are grateful for your time, partnership, and dedication to our students' success. The survey will be open through Friday, June 5th.
As we enter the final four weeks of the 2025-2026 school year, WMS continues to buzz with vibrant learning experiences for all of our students. This week’s "Learning Bright Side" shines a spotlight on our 8th-grade English Language Arts classes.
Walking through our hallways, you can hear students enthusiastically reciting excerpts from Romeo and Juliet, lifting each other up with encouragement and constructive feedback. Inside the classrooms, they are deeply engaged in reading the text, analyzing the complex relationships between characters, and comparing Shakespeare’s original work with a modern film adaptation. These rich classroom experiences build our students' background knowledge, comprehension, and literary analysis skills. To celebrate their hard work and deepen their learning, this unit will culminate in a trip to Boston to see a live production of Romeo and Juliet!
As we move toward the end of the year, we will continue to share the rich learning experiences that our students are having at WMS. As always, our doors are open. Whether you have questions, concerns, or simply want to share in the excitement of the school year, we encourage you to reach out.

We want all of our middle school students to comfortably and responsibly use the restrooms at the middle school.
In the last week at WMS, we have seen an increase in students not following expectations in the restrooms.
We expect all students to: - Use the restroom appropriately (ie: throwing trash in the barrel, using resources provided appropriately, clean up after themselves)
- Have a pass from class to use the restroom.
- Use the restroom only when needed and not as a time to meet up with friends.
- Use the restroom and return quickly to class (typically 3-5 minutes) so that they don’t miss out on important instructional time.
- Report to an adult if they see inappropriate behavior in the restroom.
- Remember that their actions have an impact on other students’ sense of comfort and safety in the restrooms.
- Remember that their actions, if not meeting expectations, have a negative impact on the WMS custodial staff that works so hard to maintain our building.
We appreciate the time you will take to review these expectations with your child. Thank you for your partnership. |

Earlier this winter, several of our 6th- and 7th-graders put their problem-solving skills to the test in the New England Mathematics League (NEML) contest.
We are incredibly proud to share that our students didn't just participate; they excelled on a regional and league-wide stage.

Overall League Ranking: 8th Place
Individual Standouts: A special shout-out to Sihyun Kim and Aiden Teng, who ranked among the top 6th-grade students in the entire league!
🏆 7th Grade Highlights Our 7th-grade team climbed even higher in the standings, competing against a field of 34 participating schools.
Regional Ranking: 2nd Place
Overall League Ranking: 4th Place

Get excited for the 8th grade dance!
Please use the attached link to RSVP for your student as this will help the PTO to determine food/drink quantities needed. Also, we need volunteers to assist with the set up/break down of the dance. Parents do not stay for the dance as it is chaperoned by staff. Thank you!

Starting the week of May 18th, a donation bin will be available at Wayland Middle School. Thank you for helping us make this effort a success!
Together, we can support one another—one outfit at a time! |
